  22. Now that Arc 6.02 is out it is time for a new version of
  23. Arcgsh. (For those who do not know about Arcgsh: It is a GEM
  24. program which allows you to call archivers like Arc and Zoo
  25. (and other programs) comfortably using dialog boxes. You do not
  26. have to remember all those single-letter commands and those
  27. even more cryptic options but simply select them from dialog
  28. boxes where they are noted *with* their meaning.)
  29.  
  30. Those of you who have tried to call Arc 6.02 from Arcgsh will
  31. have noticed that it results in two bombs. Mea culpa. I did not
  32. set up the xArg environment right. This problem never popped up
  33. yet because Arc 6.02 is the first program I called from Arcgsh
  34. that supports xArg. (Zoo claims it supports xArg but it does
  35. not.)
  36.  
  37. The fix was quite easy but I think I take the opportunity to
  38. fix some other things, too. And then the additional
  39. functionality of Arc 6.02 has to incorporated into the user
  40. interface. These are all more or less trivial things but -
  41. considering my spare time - will take some time.
  42.  
  43. Whoever of you (registered or unregistered user) needs Arcgsh
  44. *desperatly* to work together with Arc 6.02 may get the current
  45. intermediate release, just drop me a note. Else wait for the
  46. official release in comp.binaries.atari.st.

  48. (Still missing: Sources for Arc 6.02 to get it to work on the
  49. UNIX machines.)

  79. It happens to me as well, but its the other way round. ie.
  80.                 access B --> A spins,  access A --> B doesn't spin.

  85. I'm not particularly worried about it and I haven't had any problem for the
  86. last 3 years. But the annoying thing is that my A drive is the SF514 which
  87. is 10 times nosier than the B drive which is a cheap 3rd party mechanism.

  89. Just wondering, is this phenomenon by any chance the result of the fact
  90. both drives are sharing the same power supply? or may be because they
  91. are (not properly) daisy-chained?

  106. i know that Howard Sams & Co. publishes hardware specs for the
  107. troubleshooting and repair of the 520 (saw it in the latest Jensen Tool
  108. catalog), but does anybody know if they do the same for the 1040? i can't
  109. seem to reach them via phone.

  130. It's a portation of the Parc Place Smalltalk, and I think the newest
  131. version is 2.34, it is compatible to the Smalltalk 80 portations for
  132. Sun (image portability). In Germany you can get this version from

  183. It is possible to connect a 1084 to a 1040. The only thing you need is a
  184. cable with a Scart connector for the 1084 and a monitor plug for the ST.
